چکیده

Developmental defects of enamel (DDE) are frequently observed. In both pediatric and orthodontic dental practices. DDE consist mainly of hypoplasia, diffuse and demarcated opacities.1 Often, a combination of enamel defects may be recognized in the same child (Fig. 1). Weerheijm et al. defined the term Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) to describe a more specific pattern of DDE: hypomineralization of systemic origin of one to four permanent first molars frequently associated with affected incisors (Fig. 2).2 Clinically, MIH can be seen as an abnormality in the translucency of the enamel. Some lesions have significant subsurface porosity, leading to posteruptive breakdown of the surface.

Enamel pretreatment with sodium hypochlorite to enhance bonding in hypocalcified amelogenesis imperfecta: case report and SEM analysis.

Bonding composite resin to enamel of teeth affected by amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) is often problematic, especially in cases with poorly mineralized, friable enamel. Difficulty in bonding hypomineralized enamel can significantly limit the restorative and orthodontic treatment options for AI patients. In this report, we document a novel approach to bonding AI enamel by pretreating the tooth sur...

Enamel Surface Roughness after Orthodontic Bracket Debonding and Composite Resin Removal by Two Types of Burs

Objective: Increased enamel surface roughness following orthodontic bracket debonding leads to increased plaque accumulation and enamel decalcification. Therefore, different methods are employed to achieve smoother enamel surfaces after bracket debonding. This study compared enamel surface roughness following orthodontic bracket debonding and composite resin removal using white stone and tung...

Evaluation of enamel damages following orthodontic bracket debonding in fluorosed teeth bonded with adhesion promoter

OBJECTIVE To evaluate shear bond strength (SBS) of the orthodontic brackets bonded to fluorosed and nonfluorosed teeth using Light Bond with and without adhesion promoters and compare their enamel damages following debonding. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, 30 fluorosed (Thylstrup and Fejerskov Index = 4-5) and 30 nonfluorosed teeth were randomly distributed between two subgroups accordi...

Analysis of the mineral composition of hypomineralized first permanent molars.

BACKGROUND/AIM Hypomineralization of molars and incisors (molarincisor hypomineralization--MIH) is defined as enamel hypomineralization of systemic origin of one or more of the four first permanent molars, which may be associated with changes in the maxillary, and less frequently in the permanent mandibular in cisors. The aim of this study was to investigate the mineral content in hypomineraliz...
